OUTREACHES Spanish VBS It was a fun-filled week in July of 2004 as we taught about God and His love to approximately 150 Hispanic children from a residential trailer complex in Pelham, Alabama. Thank goodness the children were improving their English in summer school which made communication a little easier for those of us who could not speak Spanish. However, God's love transcended all barriers and filled the lives of not only many children but their families as well. Reading Day Camp Lionel, our six foot tall animated lion puppet, was a big hit not to mention a tremendous motivator to the kids at summer reading camp sponsored by Prescott Baptist Church in June of 2005. Each visit Lionel read a book to the kids. With his partner, Miss Hattie, they did illusions, games, and songs to emphasize the message presented in the book that Lionel had shared that day. The kids and even the teenage helpers enjoyed going on explorations of reading with Lionel. Veggie Tales VBS It was family fun night at Shady Grove Baptist Church where a very Veggie VBS was being promoted for June 2003. Our puppets joined in the fun by presenting a Veggie Tales Café which served up fun with songs, skits, and of course Veggie puppets! Nursing Homes The residents at the Hearthstone Living Center and the Birmingham East Nursing Home really enjoyed our programs. The residents as well as the staff displayed their enjoyment with hand clapping, toe tapping, and smiles throughout the entire puppet and clown performance.
